Originario del siglo pasado, los bailadores son nueve, en la actualidad jóvenes entre los 16 y 18 años, a las órdenes de un jefe llamado Mayoral. Pican en el suelo y entre ellos, con unos palos largos (rama de algún árbol) en un intento simbólico de fecundar la tierra. El baile consta de varias partes, entre las que destaca la del recitado de los versos relacionados con el oficio de pastor o con la ciudad. El baile sigue las diversas evoluciones, cada una con su música característica: La Cadena, El Pont (el puente) y El Cargol (el caracol), que culminan con la elevación a peso del pastor más pequeño.
Hailing from the last century, the nine dancers, now young people between 16 and 18 years, under the command of a chief named Mayoral. Bite into the ground and between them, with long sticks (a tree branch) in a symbolic attempt to fertilize the soil. The dance consists of several parts, including the recitation of verses related to the office of pastor or the city. The dance follows the various evolutions,each with its characteris tic music: La Cadena, El Pont (the bridge) and the Cargol (snails), culminating with the elevation of a sheperd (the one with the smallest weight)
